Road Trip to Carthage

We spent the weekend in Carthage with our family and had many adventures! After lunch with my good buddy Colson at Pizza by Stout (my favorite!) we visited Great Henry and Great Niecy. I love to play with their fancy shell collection and see if I can hear the ocean in Mexico.

I think I hear it!

Ok, I'm having a bit of a hard time getting this video flipped... Don't get a kink in your neck, but enjoy the laughter of Great Henry and Meekin!

That evening, Colson and baby Jane came to PoPo's house to play. Colson and I had many adventures in the 'clown car'. How many kids do you think we can cram in this thing??

Meekin and Jane don't interact much yet, but they do smile at each other and occasionally try to poke the others eye out. I guess when you're 8 months old, that's how you show your affection.

After a long, fun day, Meekin passed out hard. It was the first decent night of sleep Mom's had in a while!

Saturday, we worked on making Uncle Bren's play room into a room for me to sleep in when we visit. Uncle Bren worked hard and I sure do appreciate it. I LOVE my new room!

We also went to Red Oak II to have pictures taken and play. While we were there, we saw ducks, guineas and peacocks! What fun!

Meekin passed out again on the way to see the animals. Fortunately for him, we didn't see any flies! I was in hog heaven playing on the old cars, trucks and planes!

I think the airplane was my favorite part. I might even look cooler in this than I do in the Jeep!

He's my co-pilot too! Peas in a pod, partners in crime, whatever you want to call us, here we go! Wait, Colson, we're not off the ground yet... Now we're flying high!

Baby Jane decided she wasn't sure about hanging out with Meekin again.

He tried to comfort her, but she was being such a diva.

Allison and Mom were wondering how anyone gets 2 children to smile for pictures at the same time, much less 4!! We wrapped up the weekend with a visit to Great Momma Lessie for haircuts for Meekin and I. Meekin was far more cooperative than me. It was his first haircut - just a little off the bottom this time!

Once we were home again, Meekin took his first solo ride with me on the train.

I'm So Dizzy!

My friend Lily came to visit last night. We had a blast playing on my horse swing!

A Roof Over Our Heads

Well, it started a week ago and is finally finished. Daddy has put a new roof on our house! I told him it looks pretty good. 3 flights up is pretty far and I told him repeatedly to be careful. When he took me up on the roof, I said over and over, 'I've got to be careful'. Mom was unaware Daddy was taking me up there, so she didn't have time to stress. Daddy's working in the trees!

Climbing on the roof is fun and all, but I prefer my supervisor role on the ground. "Hey Mom, take a picture of me by the Jeep. I look cool!"

2 Year Olds Are the Wildest Animals

Yesterday, our playgroup friends and a few more visited the zoo. I love the zoo and am so happy that Mom got a pass to the zoo so we can go frequently! The Africa portion of the zoo has been recently renovated, so we spent the day there. We walked over 2 big bridges and saw so many animals, I could hardly count them all!
I think the elephants are particularly cool!!

The weather was nice enough, the hippos were out of the water! I don't think we've ever seen more than a hump on their back and their eyes while they're soaking in their pond. Very fun!

I smuggled my wrench into the zoo (I am my fathers child, right?) so Wyatt and I took a break and tried to fix an electrical outlet. Our moms stopped us before we could get much work done. We were a little disappointed.Moms favorites - the giraffes and zebras!

Meekin took a little snooze, but woke up in time to see some of the animals. Check out those teeth!Crazy crocodiles!

I think meer cats are tooooo cool. Mom has a bottle stopper with them on it and I really like playing with it.

The rhino was rough and ready. I think it must have been almost his lunch time because he was pacing.Speaking of lunch, we had a nice picnic...so did the goose. He ate the snacks we dropped. My friend Shelby didn't like him at all.
We were all tired and ready to head for home but we had to make one more stop at the carousel!
Of course, I'm thinking about how this thing works and wondering where my wrench is!

Random Thoughts...

Henry has taken to throwing a fit on the steps lately. Where this idea came from, I'm not sure, but I'm definately not a fan of it, for safety reasons, among others. If I throw myself on the floor and start throwing a fit, it seems to diffuse the situation and we move on. Oh, the things a parent will do.

Speaking of things a parent will do, Chris has finally started taking one piece of advice I've continuously given him for the past 2 1/2 years. If I'm gone and the kids are upset, put them in a sling. I came home from a girl outing on Friday and there was Meekin, snuggled up and happy. Gives me a little relief to know that they're not screaming while I'm away!
