Happy 1st Birthday Meekin!

I usually wake up in a good mood, but today, I was in an especially good mood! Today is my birthday!

I got to open a present first thing this morning, but I was struggling a bit with the whole opening thing, so I got a little help from Henry. He thought we should both wear our John Deere shirts today, and then, he took it a step farther by wearing his chaps and vest! A true cowboy!
Boots! I don't wear shoes much, since I can't walk, but I got myself a fancy pair of ropers! Now I can be a cowboy like Henry! Later in the day, I got to open more presents...another pair of boots, bubbles and a Thomas the Train movie.
Let's get to the good stuff - CAKE! Henry blew out the candle for me...

And then I dove in! YUM! What a happy day!

My Babies Are Growing Up - Moms Reflections

On the eve of Meekin's first birthday, I remember back to this day one year ago. I made my final Wal-Mart run with Henry as an only child. He sat on my hip in his sling not having any idea what was going to hit him the following day. What did happen the next day a blessing, a new dynamic to our family, a new baby. Baby Meekin. What a roller coaster ride this last year has been! I'm thankful to have our parents, family members and friends close to take care of all of us! Seems like just yesterday I was waiting for the day that Henry was going to arrive... As we're counting down the weeks (3!) until his third birthday, I realize that it really is true that time flies when you're having fun!
Something I'm not sure if I put on the blog previously or not, but came to mind today.... The morning I was leaving for the hospital to deliver Meekin, I was getting Henry dressed and ready for his day when I asked him if it would be ok if he got a baby brother that day. He said, 'No, Mommy dressed, Henry clothes on, go to GARAGE SALES!' It was a Friday, and that's what we tend to do on a lot of Fridays! It's in his genes!

Spies Like Us

I was using my binoculars today to scope out a few critters in the yard when I realized I could see our neighbors houses - CLOSE! It looked like Mary Ellen was having meat loaf and Tom and Kathy were having turkey, so I chose to stay home and eat hamburgers with our family. Happy Eating!

A Funny Conversation...

As we were preparing for Meekin's playgroup to meet at our house this morning, Henry and I had the following conversation:

Henry: Mom, should I play with Meekin’s play group?
Mom: Sure, you can play with the babies. Do you like babies?
Henry: I love Meekin.
Mom: What about Preston?
Henry: I love baby Preston a whole bunch. I love CAT Machines too.

The boy’s got his priorities in order!

A Fun Week

I wouldn't eat dinner much this week so Mommy and Daddy did everything they could to try and bribe me into eating. Daddy even promised tractor rides! Well, you can see who got to go. I am a pretty strong willed person and won't do anything unless it's my idea! Do notice Meekin's 'waver' working. He waves at everyone these days and shows them all 8 of his pearly whites!

Joelle and Preston came to visit one day this week. We found Jo a Bella Dancerella leotard/tutu outfit and she was thrilled with it!She had to wear it while she and I were tuning on the car! She's such a diverse girl!
Later that night, Meekin got so tickled when Daddy was giving him kisses and tickling him with his whiskers!

Out of the Mouths of Babes

More funny stories coming from Henry. Since we use the blog as the boys 'baby book' it all has to be included, appropriate or not!

Having dinner at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants with our family and Nanny, Henry declared that the salsa, normally his favorite, is 'sour'. Nanny says, "I think it's spicy". Henry shoots back with quite a look on his face, "Um, well, it's sour to me!"

Henry was supposed to be getting dressed to leave and I left the room. When I came back, he had managed to get out of his pj's but was not dressed, instead, naked on my bed. He said, "Hi Mom, I was just playing with my penis." Ah, the joys of boys!

When asked what you need to clean out a rental house, Henry's very quick to tell you..."You need a shovel and a dump trailer." He's helped Chris clean out a few houses, so he understands what a 'disaster' they can be.

While I was taking a shower one day, Henry came in my room and picked up my bra. He spent a good 5 minutes really trying to put it on and figure out how it worked. I watched him for a bit and then couldn't stand it anymore since I knew my camera was close. I'm pretty excited to show all his girlfriends how cute he was when he was little!

Pitts Family Reunion at Pomme de Terre

We spent 5 days last week at Pomme de Terre for Gram's family reunion. The weather was great for camping and we had a very good time. Fun family, good food, the lake and good weather - what more could a boy ask for?!
My main plan while being there was spending some time with Ski Bob. Gram and I got settled in quick and were ready to go!

Gram and I rode to 'mud beach' and played in the mud until we just couldn't play any more.

Meekin said the whole thing just tired him out. He wasn't very happy about wearing his life jacket. Mom said I was the same way my first summer at the lake, but a rule is a rule and we have to wear them!

Yep, that's a rope pulling Daddy on the Sea Doo. He broke down and we had to go pick him up and tow him to shore. I informed Daddy that it was a piece of junk and we needed to bring it home and put it in the dump trailer.

Meanwhile, back on land... Alan and Pappy liked hanging out with Meekin. Alan made a fun rattle for him out of a water bottle and rocks. The simplest of toys went a long way toward entertaining him for the week.
Meekin was very focused on drinking his milk!

My cousin Owen came to visit too. I fell in the water and got my shorts muddy, so I stripped down to my skivvies and Owen didn't want to get dirty, so he did too. We had fun trying to figure out which rocks to throw in the lake!
Owen and his mommy went on a boat ride with us too. We were going to Ski Bob with Mom, but Ski Bob had a little accident and has to be patched. Maybe next time! Instead of riding, I got to drive!
I think the boat made Owen a little nervous. Hopefully we get to go again and he'll have more fun!

A Visit With the Kissinger Kids

Four of our six Kissinger cousins came to visit a couple weeks ago for a softball world series. Lily's team didn't win, but we were glad they came because we had lots of fun!
One night, we went to Popcicles in the Park, sponsored by our Parks & Rec department. We watched Dino O'Dell sing, watched a puppet show by Picadilly Puppets, played on the playground and best of all, ate popcicles!!

Brett helped me climb very high!A big hit was my train! Ellie loved playing conductor!

They brought some Gak with them and I wasn't sure if I really liked the way it felt or not...

Meekin's been working on his first molars and has been a bit cranky. Mom figured out that popcicles really calm him down (as do most anything with a calorie).
We have two cozy coupes, so we don't have to share, but we tend to want to ride together, which makes it a really cozy coupe!
Meekin's gotten big enough, he was ready to start learning how to sit and spin, so I've been showing him the ropes!
