'Twas the Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas and in our home, Mom was in a desperate search for a comb.

Your hair is a wreck, she said to the boys. If we don't make it to church and back, Santa will surely not bring you any toys.

We must go to church to light the candles, something they thought surely the Becker's could handle.

Each day, it becomes increasingly clear, Mom can not get her crew out the door without any tears.

Hurry Henry, Hurry Meekin, Hurry Chris! If you'll get out the door soon, I'll give you a kiss!

Upon arrival, I'll give you a snack, hopefully you'll be quiet if we sit in the back.

Once church is over and the bells have rang, we'll arrive back home with a hunger pang.

Mom will begin to prepare for Christmas Dinner, all the while thinking this meal will not make her thinner.

Once the children are in bed, Dad will assemble toys until he's spinning in the head.

We'll both finally collapse, with the house looking a fright, without even the energy to say, "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!"
