Critters for the Classroom

There have been some interesting creatures in Kathy's garden next door.  We've been watching a REALLY BIG caterpillar for a few days.  Tonight, we watched him eat his dinner - a nice green leaf.

The other object of fascination is a really big spider.  We captured it to bring to school since we've been talking about spiders this week.   

Happy 91st Birthday, Great Henry!

Check out this guy!  He turned 91 this week, so a party was in order!

River Rats

We decided to be river rats with Dad and his buddies one day this week.  We took our new (to us) little fishing boat in on the Missouri River at Fort Osage and headed toward the Little Blue River.

We stopped to cook lunch at a sandy spot.  I had prime seating! 

Carrie took us hiking through the woods to collect firewood and find some good picture spots.

It was a really pretty time of year to be on the river. 

 We saw lots of frogs!  James even got a big one up on an oar, but he jumped off before we could take a picture. 

Camille was getting good at running the trolling motor.  So am I!  We were going to try to have trolling races!

Alldredge Apple Orchard

We've fallen behind once again, but will razzle dazzle with all of the spectacular photos of my class field trip to Alldredge Apple Orchard.  We love it there and have a great time every year!  The weather was wonderful too...very cool and crisp - perfect for a farm day!

One Big Building Party!

For our birthday party this year we had our crew come ready to work!  We were loaded with Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, Legos, wood blocks, you name it, we had it!  Of course, all good workers love a swingset and a big yard to run in too!  We had an awesome time with about 60 of our friends and family and gathered 120 items for our church food pantry!  Thanks everyone!!
